PA Storm Brings Needed Rain, Gusty Winds
The much-needed rain will help alleviate drought conditions, with plants and trees in the region needing water, and the storm system's impact will be closely monitored as it brings relief to the area.

A strong storm system is expected to bring much-needed rain and potentially gusty winds to the Philly region on Sunday, March 16, with wind gusts reaching 40-50 mph and a widespread half inch to inch of precipitation likely.
The region is in need of rain, with a 35% precipitation deficit over the last 60 days, and drought conditions are severe, with the soil moisture at the 95th to 100th percentile for dryness. The storm system has already caused over 45 tornado reports in the Midwest and South, and the Philly region is expected to experience scattered showers, strong winds, and heavy rain.
The strongest winds and heaviest rain are expected in the afternoon and evening, with a severe weather threat and potential for thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts. A First Alert has been issued for the entire region from 3 p.m. to midnight on Sunday, and power outages are possible due to the strong winds.
The storm is expected to clear out by Monday morning, with a nice St. Patrick's Day on March 17, bringing an end to the stormy weather and providing a welcome break for the region.
