The sequel is expected to be bigger and better than the first installment, which grossed Rs 650 crores.

The shooting will take place in Chennai, Goa, and Theni in Tamil Nadu, with a storyline that promises to captivate the audience. The film is rumored to feature Kannada superstar Dr. Shiva Rajkumar and Malayalam legend Mohanlal in major roles, although no official confirmation has been made. A teaser for the film has been released, showcasing a thrilling and humorous tone that fans are eagerly awaiting.

The film's cast includes Rajinikanth, Ramya Krishna, Yogi Babu, and others, with Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jackie Shroff making cameos in the first part. Director Nelson is negotiating with Nandamuri Balakrishna for a cameo in Jailer 2, but his tight schedule is a reason for the delay. For Jailer 2, Nelson is reportedly considering Telugu star NTR or Balakrishna for a key role.

The sequel is expected to be released in early summer 2026. The shooting of Jailer 2 has begun, with director Nelson Dilipkumar filming sequences with actors excluding Rajinikanth. The first schedule is expected to wrap up by the end of March, after which the team will move to Kerala. Rajinikanth is expected to join the shoot in Kerala or later.
