Sohum Shah's Crazxy Thriller Falls Flat with 2-Star Rating

With a unique premise and unpredictable plot, Crazxy had the potential to be a gripping thriller, but ultimately, its flaws and shortcomings detract from the experience, making it a mediocre addition to Sohum Shah's filmography, despite his impressive solo performance.

Sohum Shah's latest thriller, Crazxy, has hit theaters with a promising premise but fails to deliver, earning a 2 out of 5-star rating due to its implausible plot points and clunky computer graphics. Despite Shah handling the screen largely single-handedly, the film's pace slows down as it delves deeper into the story, with the absence of other actors and ineffective voiceovers detracting from the experience.

The film, directed by Girish Kohli, tells the story of Dr Abhimanyu Sood, a surgeon who receives a shocking phone call that sets off a chain of events leading to a dangerous chase and a web of mystery. Sohum Shah had promoted the film on Instagram, encouraging fans to watch it in theaters, and the film has received a 3-star review from NDTV, praising its unique and unpredictable plot. However, the movie's overall performance has been underwhelming, with a 16.53% Hindi occupancy rate and earning only Rs 90 lakh on its opening day.

In an interview, Sohum Shah discussed the film's production, highlighting the unique aspects of the story and the creative process. He praised the writer's ability to capture the essence of the film's madness and chaos, emphasizing that he looks for good scripts with great directors, particularly those with a touch of madness. Despite the film's disappointing performance, Sohum Shah remains committed to finding good stories to tell, with no pressure to make Crazxy bigger or more successful than his previous film, Tumbbad.

While Crazxy may not have lived up to expectations, Sohum Shah's dedication to his craft and his willingness to take risks on unique stories are admirable. Fans of the actor and the thriller genre may still find some enjoyable moments in the film, but overall, it falls short of being a truly compelling watch.
