LIV Golf Allows Shorts in Some Tournaments, Introduces New Scoring System in 2025 shorts
With the heat index determining shorts eligibility and a new team-oriented scoring system in place, LIV Golf's 2025 season is poised to offer a unique blend of traditional tournament play and innovative rules, catering to both player comfort and spectator engagement.

LIV Golf players will still be allowed to wear shorts at certain tournaments in 2025, contrary to initial reports that pants would be required year-round, with the heat index being a determining factor in the new dress code policy.
The new policy, which will be implemented after the Hong Kong tournament from March 7-9, permits players to wear shorts if the heat index is 90 degrees Fahrenheit or above, as well as during practice rounds, including Pro-Am days. This announcement comes after LIV Golf TV analyst Pat Perez stated that players would no longer be allowed to wear shorts, sparking debate among golf enthusiasts.
In addition to the dress code update, LIV Golf is introducing a new scoring system for the 2025 season. Every player's score in every round will count towards their team's total score at each regular season tournament, aiming to enhance team dynamics and competition. This development is part of LIV Golf's efforts to innovate and distinguish its tournaments.
The decision to allow shorts under certain conditions reflects LIV Golf's adaptability and responsiveness to player and fan feedback, while the new scoring system promises to bring a fresh layer of excitement and strategy to the game. As LIV Golf embarks on its fourth season, these changes are set to make a notable impact on the sport.
