Bangladesh Cricket Board to honor legendary batsman Tamim Iqbal with a formal farewell ceremony during the Bangladesh Premier League final on Friday, recognizing his contributions to the national team.

The farewell function will take place before the closing ceremony of the final match between Fortune Barisal, led by Tamim Iqbal, and Chittagong Kings. Tamim, a two-time BPL title winner, announced his retirement from international cricket on January 10, citing personal reasons. He had previously announced his retirement in July 2023 but later withdrew his decision following a request from a former Prime Minister.

With 15,192 runs in 387 matches, Tamim is Bangladesh's second-highest scorer in international cricket. Despite his retirement from international cricket, Tamim Iqbal has expressed his intention to continue playing in the Bangladesh Premier League next year. He is also interested in playing in the upcoming Dhaka Premier League and various Legends Leagues, and may take on a leadership or administrative role in cricket.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board's decision to honor Tamim Iqbal is a testament to his dedication and contributions to the national team. The farewell ceremony will be a fitting tribute to his illustrious career, and fans will have the opportunity to bid farewell to a legendary batsman.
