Axar Patel Suffers Ranking Drop as Adil Rashid Leads

Updated :

The latest ICC rankings have seen significant changes, with England's Adil Rashid regaining the top spot among T20I bowlers, while Axar Patel dropped to 11th place, and Tilak Varma jumped to 2nd in the batting rankings, closing in on Travis Head's top spot.

Adil Rashid's consistent performances against India, including 1-15 in the latest match, earned him the top spot, surpassing Akeal Hosein who briefly held the position last year. Varun Chakravarthy's impressive 5-for in the third T20I propelled him to 5th place, with a 25-place jump, while Jofra Archer improved his ranking by 13 spots to 6th place.

In the T20I batting rankings, Tilak Varma's scores of 18, 72*, and 19* in the series against England helped him jump from 3rd to 2nd place, just 23 rating points behind top-ranked Travis Head. Varma is now in a strong position to break Babar Azam's record of being the youngest to top the ICC T20I batting rankings.

In the Test rankings, Pakistan's Noman Ali rose to 5th place after a hat-trick in the second Test against the West Indies, while Fabian Allen moved up 16 spots to 25th. Jasprit Bumrah remains the top-ranked Test bowler, and Joe Root leads the batters' rankings.

The rankings are expected to continue to shift as the series between England and India, and Pakistan and the West Indies, come to a close. Axar Patel will look to regain his form and climb back up the rankings, while Tilak Varma will aim to surpass Travis Head and claim the top spot in the T20I batting rankings.
