Jofra Archer Warns India Ahead of Second T20I
England seamer Jofra Archer has issued a warning to Indian batters ahead of the second T20I, stating that they could be in trouble if they face a strong innings similar to the one England put up in the first match.
Archer's comments come after his impressive performance in the series opener, where he dismissed Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav, conceding just 21 runs from his four overs. He believes that India were lucky to win the first match comprehensively, with many balls going up in the air but not being caught. Archer feels that if the same thing happens in the next match, India could be reduced to 40/6.
The first T20I saw Indian spinners, particularly Varun Chakravarthy, dominate the game. Chakravarthy took 3 wickets for 23 runs, helping India restrict England to 101/8 in 20 overs. English captain Jos Buttler praised the Indian spinner, saying he bowls more bouncier than expected. Buttler acknowledged that it's not easy to play against India's spin trio, stating that "they're all really good players" and that his team will need to be more aggressive and come back harder in the next match.
The Indian team's selection had a few questions, but Chakravarthy proved to be the difference-maker. He credited his experience at Eden Gardens for understanding the pitch, which he knew would be challenging. Chakravarthy used over-spin to get the better of the English batsmen, having analyzed that it wouldn't be possible to beat them with side-spin. He also attributed his improved performance to his adaptability and his extensive experience in the IPL.
As the second T20I approaches, players to watch out for include Abhishek Sharma, Jos Buttler, Varun Chakravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, Jofra Archer, and Suryakumar Yadav. With the English team looking to bounce back and the Indian team aiming to continue their winning streak, the second match promises to be an exciting encounter.
