BPSC Protest Reaches 45th Day Amid Demands for Cancellation
The protest by BPSC aspirants in Patna, Bihar, has entered its 45th day, with demonstrators demanding the cancellation and re-examination of the 70th BPSC Prelims exam due to alleged irregularities, including a leaked question paper and delayed distribution of papers.
The protesters claim that there was a paper leak during the 70th Prelims exam in 2022 and are seeking a re-exam and the cancellation of the exam. However, the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has denied all allegations of a paper leak and stated that the 70th Prelims exam will not be cancelled. The BPSC has also served show cause notices to 34 aspirants who were allegedly involved in creating a disturbance at the Pariksha Parisar centre during the exam.
The 70th BPSC Prelims was conducted on January 13, 2024, but the exam was cancelled for the Pariksha Parisar exam centre due to protests over an alleged question paper leak. A re-exam was conducted on April 4, 2025, and the results were declared on November 23, 2025, amidst large protests across the state over alleged irregularities. The results show that out of 3,28,990 candidates who took the exam, 21,581 have cleared the exam's initial round.
The Patna High Court has scheduled a hearing on petitions challenging the 70th Combined Competitive Examination conducted by the BPSC. The petitions demand a re-test of the exam and a ban on the publication of results due to alleged irregularities, including a paper leak. Despite allegations, the BPSC has announced the results of the exam and imposed a three-year ban on 13 candidates involved in 'unfair practices'. The Court will hear the petitions on January 31.
The protest is ongoing, and the aspirants are not backing down from their demands. They are seeking a transparent investigation into the alleged irregularities and the cancellation of the 70th BPSC Prelims exam. The situation remains tense, with the protesters determined to have their voices heard and their demands met.
