Rohit Sharma Absence Looms Large for Mumbai

Updated :

Mumbai, the defending champions of the Ranji Trophy, are gearing up to face Meghalaya in a crucial match on January 30, but they will have to do so without the services of their star players, including Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who have been called up for the India ODI camp.

The absence of these key players will be a significant blow to Mumbai's chances, but the team remains in contention to qualify for the next stage. A win against Meghalaya by a bonus point, coupled with a draw between Jammu and Kashmir and Baroda, is essential for their survival. Mumbai have announced a squad of 16 players for the match, with Suryansh Shedge and Angkrish Raghuvanshi making comebacks to the team.

Rohit Sharma, who had a brief stint in the second innings of the previous match, scoring 28 runs off 35 balls, will be missed by the team. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer, who scored single-digit scores, will also be absent due to their commitments with the India ODI team. Shivam Dube, who was part of the T20I squad for the England series, has also been released from the team.

In other news, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has announced the success of its deworming program, with sales of Crotamiton (Alba 10%) decreasing by 86.4%. The program, which was launched by President Pranab Mukherjee in 2017, has treated over 14 crore children nationwide and has shown positive results in controlling the spread of parasitic worms among school children.

As Mumbai takes on Meghalaya in their crucial Ranji Trophy match, the team will be hoping to put up a strong performance despite the absence of their star players. With the India ODI camp commitments and the deworming program's success making headlines, it's an exciting time for Indian sports and health initiatives.
