Scandal Rocks Equatorial Guinea Government, Vice-President vowing Clampdown on Workplace Infidelity

Updated :

Equatorial Guinea's government is reeling from a sex video scandal involving the country's financial crime chief, Baltasar Ebang Engonga, who is being investigated for having sex with multiple women, including high-ranking officials' spouses. The leak of the videos has sparked outrage and calls for stricter controls to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The scandal centers around Ebang Engonga, who has denied any wrongdoing despite being married with six children. The explicit videos allegedly featuring him with several women, including his brother's wife and the president's sister, were discovered during a corruption probe. An investigation has been launched to determine how the lewd content was leaked and whether the official poses a public health risk. Authorities have promised disciplinary action, including dismissal, if Ebang Engonga is found to have engaged in illicit behavior.

In response to the scandal, Equatorial Guinea's Vice-President Teodoro Obiang Mangue has announced measures to prevent similar incidents, including the installation of surveillance cameras in government offices and stepped-up security. Civil servants caught engaging in sex on the job will be suspended and face severe measures. The move aims to effectively deter workplace infidelity and maintain discipline within the government.

The scourge of corruption and moral impropriety persists in Equatorial Guinea's government, with the vice-president determined to stamp it out. These recent measures are a bold step in restoring public trust in the institution. It remains to be seen whether these warnings and penalties will be effective in preventing future workplace scandals.
