The index ended at 136,379.97, reflecting a gain of 440.10 points or 0.32%. Market sentiment was boosted by anticipation of robust company results, attractive dividend announcements, and speculation about credit rating upgrade.
Buying activity was concentrated in sectors like fertiliser and cement, with stocks like Fauji Fertiliser Company (FFC), Engro Holdings, and Engro Fertilisers contributing to the rally. Topline Securities observed that the session saw consolidation, with the index oscillating between intra-day highs and lows as investors booked profits, particularly in banking stocks. Overall trading volumes stood at 705.9 million shares, with shares of 482 companies traded.
