Shock and Investigation: Second M25 Fatal Crash in Same Week
Tragedy struck the M25 for the second time in a week as a young man lost his life on the motorway minutes after being released from police custody, sparking an investigation by the police watchdog. The incident follows another fatal crash on the same motorway just days earlier in Kent.
The latest incident occurred between junctions 28 and 29 near Brentwood, where a man in his 20s was walking on the motorway when he was struck by a car. Despite the efforts of police and medical responders to revive him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been informed of the incident and will be leading the investigation. The M25 was closed for almost 12 hours as police investigated the crash, causing significant disruptions to traffic in the area.
This is the second reported fatality on the M25 in the same week, after a man in his 50s died in a serious crash between junctions 3 and 4 in Kent earlier in the week. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning and the road was closed while emergency services attended the scene. Kent Police have confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the crash, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
The incidents on the M25 have raised concerns over road safety on the motorway, and authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution while driving. National Highways has warned drivers to expect delays on the motorway, with emergency services working to manage the situation. As the investigation into the latest incident gets underway, the thoughts of the community are with the families of those affected.
