Pakistani Singers Engaged in Heated Verbal Spat Over Singing Talent

Updated :

Pakistani singers Aima Baig and Sara Raza Khan have found themselves at odds over singing talent, with Khan questioning Baig's abilities in a recent appearance on a talk show.

The controversy began when Sara Raza Khan commented on Aima Baig's singing skills during an appearance on the show "Zabardast with Wasi Shah." Khan stated that Baig was not a successful singer without the aid of autotune, further insulting Baig's abilities by suggesting she should pursue an alternative career if she couldn't do without it. Baig responded on Instagram by sharing raw videos of herself singing without autotune, asking people to leave her alone and addressing Khan as "dear auntie." The exchange has sparked a heated debate within the Pakistani music industry.

Aima Baig has faced intense scrutiny in recent months, having been open about her health struggles, including a recent hospitalization due to dehydration and overwork. However, her friend and fellow singer Momina Mustehsan rallied around her in defense, stating that both she and Baig are skilled singers who don't require the use of autotune. The support from Mustehsan has been crucial for Baig, who trusts her as her "only real friend" in the music industry. Baig has also capitalized on the attention, highlighting her achievements as a singer, including collaborations with prominent musicians and having her tracks featured in several movies.

The ongoing feud between Aima Baig and Sara Raza Khan has brought attention to the Pakistani music industry's often-intense criticism of its own artists. While Khan's comments have sparked debate, many have come to Aima's defense, supporting her talent and dismissing Khan's opinions as hurtful. The conflict serves as a reminder that, even within the arts, opinions and critiques can be a double-edged sword.
