Hamad Medjedovic, a 21-year-old Serbian tennis player funded by Novak Djokovic, was forced to retire from his first-round Wimbledon match against Sebastian Ofner due to a leg injury. Medjedovic was 8-7 up in a tiebreaker in the first set when he slipped and fell, crying out in pain, and despite receiving a medical timeout, he continued to struggle.

The injury occurred during a tight first-set tiebreak, with Medjedovic collapsing on the court after suffering two falls in consecutive points. He attempted to continue playing but was visibly limping and struggling to move around the court. Eventually, he retired at 3-1 down in the second set, denying him the chance to get his first-ever win at Wimbledon.

Medjedovic had been in good form coming into the tournament, reaching the third round of the French Open and the quarter-final at the ATP 250 event in Mallorca. However, his injury has left his Wimbledon campaign uncertain. Djokovic had funded Medjedovic's expenses, including travel and coaching, early in his career, and the young Serb had been looking to make a strong impression at Wimbledon.

The retirement of Medjedovic marks a disappointing end to his Wimbledon campaign, and his injury will be a concern for his future tournaments. Despite the setback, Medjedovic has shown promise and potential, and with the support of Djokovic, he will be looking to bounce back from this injury and make a strong return to the tennis circuit.
