Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has called for peace and tranquility, while a new study reveals shocking truths about plastic waste in oceans, with 150 million tons entering the world's oceans every year, primarily from five countries: China, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand.

The study, published in the journal Science, analyzed data from 192 countries and found that the majority of plastic waste in the oceans is made up of microplastics, which can harm or kill marine animals and contaminate the food chain. The researchers are calling for immediate action to reduce plastic waste and prevent it from entering the oceans, including increasing recycling rates and banning single-use plastics.

Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz Sharif has wished for a peaceful and secure new Islamic year, urging people to refrain from spreading hate speech and sectarianism on social media. She highlighted the importance of promoting peace and tranquility across the globe and expressed her government's commitment to ensuring a secure environment during Muharramul Haram. The Pakistani government has also approved the nationwide deployment of the Pakistan Army and civil armed forces for security during Muharram.

The deployment is aimed at ensuring security during the first 10 days of Muharram, which commemorates the Battle of Karbala and is observed by Shia Muslims worldwide. Authorities have also decided to launch a crackdown on elements spreading religious hatred on social media and to take strict legal action against them. Additionally, internet and mobile phone services may be suspended in certain areas if deemed necessary for security reasons.

As the world grapples with the issue of plastic waste in oceans, it is essential for governments and individuals to work together to reduce plastic waste and promote peace and tranquility. The study's findings and Maryam Nawaz Sharif's call for peace serve as a reminder of the importance of addressing these critical issues for a better future.
