Nicole Kidman Opens Up About Exploring Kink in Her New Erotic Thriller 'Babygirl'

Updated :

Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman reveals the immense trust required to bring to life her complex role in the upcoming erotic thriller 'Babygirl', a film that explores themes of power, desire, and kink. In a recent Q&A session, Kidman discussed her experience working on the film, which is set to release on December 25.

Kidman, 57, stars as a powerful business executive who embarks on an affair with her young intern, played by Harris Dickinson. The film's writer-director, Halina Reijn, created a safe space for the actors to explore these explicit themes, with Kidman citing that she felt protected at all times. "I will protect you. Nothing in the film will be anything that you're not comfortable with" were Reijn's reassuring words, Kidman recalled. The experience was "liberating" for Kidman, but also took a toll on her, with moments of fear and discomfort during intimate scenes.

Kidman's husband, Keith Urban, has been supportive of her work, viewing it as "art" and separating her from the characters she portrays on screen. In a similar vein, co-star Harris Dickinson praised Kidman as a "comforting, warm performer" who made him feel at ease on set, allowing him to be vulnerable and raw in their scenes together. The film's exploration of power dynamics and desire is a new territory for Kidman, and she praised the cast and crew for their care and gentleness in handling the sensitive material.

With 'Babygirl' set to release on December 25, fans can expect a thought-provoking and visually stunning film that pushes boundaries and challenges societal norms. Featuring scenes of explicit content, including a memorable dance scene to George Michael's "Father Figure", the film is not to be missed. As Kidman navigates her complex character with finesse, the film promises to leave audiences talking long after the credits roll.
