India Names Squad for West Indies T20I and ODI Series

Updated :

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squads for India's women's teams, which will take on West Indies in a three-match T20I and ODI series starting December 15. The squads feature three uncapped players, with Harmanpreet Kaur to lead the T20I team, while Smriti Mandhana will be her deputy.

India has been struggling to find a solid middle order, with several players like Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, and Deepti Sharma struggling to score consistently. In an attempt to address this issue, the team has dropped Arundhati Reddy and Shafali Verma, and added new faces like Priya Mishra, Saima Thakor, Minnu Mani, and Titas Sadhu to the lineup. The move has been made with the hope of boosting the team's performance, particularly in the middle order.

Meanwhile, West Indies is looking to improve their record against India, who have dominated them in previous matches. West Indies captain Hayley Matthews is optimistic about changing their fortunes against India, citing the team's hard work and determination to succeed. The team has been working towards this series, and Matthews believes that they have a good chance of emerging victorious.

The series is set to kick off on December 15 in Navi Mumbai, where India will face a strong West Indies team capable of causing an upset. Despite India's recent form, the West Indies squad boasts the powerful hitter Deandra Dottin, who has been in impressive form in the T20 World Cup with a strike rate of 162.16 and 9 sixes. The stage is set for an exciting and closely contested series with much to be decided.
