Director Dan Trachtenberg returns to the Predator franchise with "Killer of Killers," a time-traveling animated anthology film that spans centuries, blending stylized action with heavy doses of gore, and features three stories set in different time periods, emphasizing gender and racial diversity.

The film, directed by Trachtenberg and Joshua Wassung, and written by Micho Robert Rutare, takes place in Viking times, feudal Japan, and World War II, with a solid story and unexpected twists. The production design team drew inspiration from cultural research and traditional art to create a grounded yet vibrant visual style, aiming to create a "moving concept art" style.

The Third Floor, a previs/postviz studio, has expanded into animation with its first animated film, "Predator: Killer of Killers," set to debut on Hulu on June 6. The studio built a new animation pipeline, leveraging Unreal Engine, and created a proprietary real-time lighting and compositing system to bring the animated feature to life.

The idea of a shared universe between the Alien and Predator franchises has been hinted at by 20th Century Studios head Steve Asbell, who suggested that a potential Alien/Predator universe could be created organically through the two franchises. Dan Trachtenberg has been open to the idea of a team-up between the two franchises, likening it to the collaborations between Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino.

As the future of the Alien and Predator franchises unfolds, fans can look forward to "Predator: Killer of Killers" and other upcoming movies that may explore the possibility of a shared universe, with Trachtenberg and his team pushing the boundaries of genre and storytelling.
