Bumrah's Challenge: Marsh Shares Strategy to Tackle India's Star Fast Bowler

Updated :

Australia's Mitchell Marsh believes that challenging and applying pressure on India's Jasprit Bumrah is the key to success in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series. Marsh, who has not been dismissed by Bumrah in the series so far, claims to have a clear game plan that he has developed over the past 18 months.

Marsh's comments come ahead of the third Test, which is set to begin on December 14 at the Gabba in Brisbane. The match marks a crucial moment in the five-Test series, with Australia and India tied at 1-1. In the second Test, Australia made a strong start, thanks to Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney, who scored significant runs. For India, the challenge lies in figuring out their batting strategy, with Rohit Sharma acknowledging that they were not "good enough with the bat" in the second Test.

Marsh's strategy of challenging Bumrah rather than simply defending is one that has worked well for him so far in the series. He has not been dismissed by the fast bowler, and is confident in his ability to tackle him. Meanwhile, Nathan McSweeney is looking forward to facing Bumrah, despite struggling against him in the past. With Bumrah's availability uncertain due to a groin injury, McSweeney is eager to rise to the challenge.

Rohit Sharma too is unfazed by the loss in the second Test, and points out that India has the opportunity to turn their fortunes around in Brisbane. Scoring runs, according to Sharma, is key to winning a Test match in Australia. With the series hanging in the balance, all eyes will be on the Gabba, where the Australian team is poised to make a strong statement.

As the two teams prepare for the final three matches of the series, one thing is clear - the battle between Marsh's strategy and Bumrah's skill will be one to watch. Can Marsh's confident approach pay off, or will Bumrah's pace and skill ultimately prove too much for the Australian batsmen? The answer will have to wait until December 14, when the next chapter in the thrilling series unfolds.
