Austria's JJ has secured a historic win at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, held in Basel, Switzerland, with his powerful operatic ballad "Wasted Love," earning a total of 436 points and marking Austria's third Eurovision victory.

JJ, a 24-year-old countertenor with a distinctive voice, performed exceptionally well, receiving "douze points" from eight countries, including Belgium, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. His unique voice, capable of reaching soprano heights, has been showcased in various classical music productions, including the Vienna State Opera.

The competition featured a diverse range of performances from 26 acts, including Sweden's Kaj, Finland's Erika Vikman, and Israel's Yuval Raphael. However, the event was not without controversy, as pro-Palestinian protesters disrupted Israel's performance, resulting in injuries to three police officers and a crew member. Despite this, the show continued, with JJ's performance ultimately earning him the top spot.

The win marks a significant milestone for Austria, following previous victories in 1966 and 2014. JJ's success has been met with widespread celebration, and he has thanked Europe for making his dreams come true. The UK's entry, "Remember Monday," finished 19th overall, receiving zero points from the public vote.

The Eurovision Song Contest, with its theme of spreading love, has once again brought together nations and music lovers from around the world. JJ's win is a testament to the power of music to unite and inspire, and his performance will be remembered as one of the highlights of the competition.
