As the situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, China's aid to the region and the international community's efforts to broker a ceasefire are crucial in preventing further humanitarian tragedies and promoting a lasting peace between Israel and Palestine.

Seven European countries have strongly condemned Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, urging an immediate end to military operations and the lifting of the blockade on humanitarian aid to prevent further starvation and deaths.

The countries, including Iceland, Luxembourg, Spain, Slovenia, Malta, and Norway, expressed grave concern over the escalation of violence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, including forced displacement and the expansion of illegal settlements. They called on Israel to respect international law and refrain from further military operations, warning that the situation could lead to a humanitarian tragedy.

China's permanent representative to the UN, Fu Cong, also urged Israel to immediately cease its military attacks on Gaza, emphasizing the need to resume humanitarian assistance, lift the blockade, and restore access to supplies. The UN Security Council was briefed on the crisis, with reports indicating that 2.1 million people in Gaza face famine conditions due to a 10-week aid blockade.

The Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, has accused Israel of committing "horrific massacres" and launching relentless attacks across Gaza, resulting in the deaths of over 250 Palestinians recently. The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The international community's condemnation of Israel's actions and the call for a durable ceasefire underscore the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The implementation of the two-State solution is seen as the only way forward, with a high-level conference scheduled for June to promote a consensus on the solution and address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
