Tensions within Tollywood as Actor Mohan Babu Faces Backlash for Assault

Tensions have escalated in the South Indian film industry, Tollywood, as Telugu actor Mohan Babu faces backlash after allegedly physically assaulting a journalist on December 10, leading to injuries. The incident occurred outside his residence in Jalpally, sparking outrage among fans and the media fraternity.

The incident involved actor Pawan Kalyan's co-star Mohan Babu striking a journalist, M. Ranjith Kumar, from television channel TV9 with a microphone. The reporter sustained injuries during the chaos that followed. What has further complicated the situation is the subsequent involvement of private security personnel who stopped Mohan Babu's son, Manoj, from entering the premises after the father filed a police complaint against him for intimidation. Interestingly, Lakshmi Manchu, Mohan Babu's daughter and Manchu Manoj's sister, has been posting cryptic messages on her social media, fuelling speculation that she is indirectly referring to the public feud between her family members.

Mohan Babu had earlier filed a police complaint against his son Manchu Manoj and his wife, alleging assault and plotting to take over his property. Manchu Manoj had also filed a complaint, albeit anonymously, accusing a certain group of individuals of physical assault. Since the complaints were made, family members have been denying each other access to certain properties. In light of Lakshmi's recent comments indicating "what one is afraid of losing" and "stopping anything due to personal reasons," fans have begun speculating that she could be referring to the ongoing family feud.

The News Broadcasters Federation (NBF) has strongly condemned the assault and called for a thorough investigation. They have demanded adequate punishment for Mohan Babu and the police officers who failed to intervene during the incident. NBF also renewed their call for a nationwide law to safeguard journalists from violence and harassment. As the situation within Tollywood continues to unfold, one thing is certain – Mohan Babu's fans and the wider public are humanely criticising his violent actions.
