Drone War Escalates Between India and Pakistan in Adampur
The drone war between India and Pakistan has raised concerns about the potential for escalation, with experts warning that the use of drones could lead to a wider conflict between the two nuclear-armed nations. The international community is watching the situation closely, as the conflict has the potential to destabilize the region and have far-reaching consequences.

India and Pakistan are engaged in a drone war, with both countries accusing each other of launching drone strikes and missile attacks, marking a new phase in their decades-old rivalry. The use of drones has become pivotal in modern warfare, enhancing precision and efficiency of military operations, and experts warn that this could lower the political and operational threshold for action, creating new escalation dynamics between two nuclear powers.
The drone warfare in the India-Pakistan conflict is different from the one in Ukraine-Russia conflict, with a lower-level military option and a more restrained approach. India has a large drone fleet, mainly built around Israeli-made reconnaissance UAVs, while Pakistan's fleet is extensive and diverse, including indigenous and imported systems. Pakistan has been accused of launching a fresh wave of drone strikes against India on Friday night, with explosions reported in Indian-administered Kashmir and Punjab.
The tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after India's response to an attack in Indian-administered Kashmir last month, which killed 31 people. Pakistan vowed to retaliate, with its military spokesperson saying it would not de-escalate. The Pakistani army claimed it had deployed over 100 planes to ward off Indian strikes, and that it used Chinese-made weapons and ground air defenses to bring down five Indian fighter jets. The worst-affected area from Thursday's drone attacks was Jammu, with people describing a barrage of fiery projectiles streaking across the sky and air-raid sirens wailing.
The mounting aggressions and allegations have resulted in a growing information war on both sides of the border, with India accusing Pakistan of a flood of disinformation and "grossly exaggerated claims". India has ordered the social media platform X to block over 8,000 accounts, including those of Pakistani politicians, celebrities, and media organizations, as well as Indian independent news organizations and Indian-Kashmiri journalists, in an effort to curb the spread of misinformation.
