Bangladesh's Shadman Islam expressed optimism about the team's position in the Chattogram Test, despite feeling they could have set a better score, ending the second day 64 runs ahead with three wickets in hand.

Shadman and Anamul Haque's 118-run opening stand was the team's first century partnership in 33 innings, providing a solid foundation for the team. However, debutant leg-spinner Vincent Masekesa led Zimbabwe's fight back, picking up three wickets, including Mushfiqur Rahim's run out. Shadman praised Anamul's comeback performance, saying he provided a good start and was unfortunate to get out.

Masekesa credited his inspiration from top leg-spinners and said the surface was offering help as the day progressed, but Zimbabwe is still very much in the game. Bangladesh's Taijul Islam took 5-60 as Zimbabwe slumped to 227-9 at the end of the first day of the second Test in Chattogram on Monday. Mehidy Hasan Miraz is expected to play a crucial role in adding to the lead tomorrow, along with Taijul.

The match is poised for an exciting finish, with Bangladesh seeking to level the two-match series after Zimbabwe won the first Test. The team's performance will depend on how well they can capitalize on the current lead and put pressure on the Zimbabwean team.
