Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar has released a new single, "Encore, Thank You, Goodnight," inspired by a dream he had about his former bandmate Eddie Van Halen, featuring a mix of melodic rock and introspective lyrics.
The song, written by Hagar and Joe Satriani, features Hagar on vocals, Michael Anthony on bass, Satriani on guitar, and Kenny Aronoff on drums. The track is a celebration of the unforgettable chapter Hagar shared with Van Halen and a "thank you" to the fans and Eddie Van Halen. Hagar believes the song was a communication from the beyond, inspired by a dream he had in 2020 where he was reunited with Eddie Van Halen.
Hagar has had a successful career spanning over four decades, with 25 platinum albums and sales surpassing 50 million worldwide. He has been recognized as one of the best and most accomplished lead singers and songwriters in rock music, earning a Grammy Award and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
