Australia Women Secure 2-0 Lead in ODI Series against India Women

Updated :

Australia Women have taken a dominant 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against India Women, winning the third and final match at the WACA in Perth by surpassing 300 runs in the first innings.

The Australian women's team put on a clinical display with bat and ball to register a convincing win, complemented by outstanding performances from both Ellyse Perry and Georgia Voll. Notably, Annabel Sutherland recorded her second ODI century, scoring a breathtaking 105 off 72 balls. Sutherland's impressive innings was characterized by 7 fours and 6 sixes, propelling Australia to their highest score against India, totaling 371/8 in 50 overs.

India, needing to chase their highest ODI total, got off to a decent start thanks to Qantasilan Malolan, who rode roughshod over the Australian bowlers, accumulating 79 off 64 deliveries before being dismissed. However, the Indian team was unable to cross the 300-run mark, managing only 249/9 in 45 overs, courtesy of a spirited bowling display from Australia. Richa Ghosh topped the Indian scoreboard with 54 runs, while Minnu Mani proved to be the lone bright spot on Indian debut with an unbeaten 46.

The impressive performance by the Australian women's team has handed India a last ball defeat, leaving them with their tails between their legs. With one crucial match still to go in the series, India Women will firm up plans to not only improve their batting and bowling, but also incorporate the dynamics of being judicious on touring bowlers, sending right thoughts to prepare for the knock-out stages in the limited-overs campaigns scheduled ahead.
