Indore Gets Major Boost As Sai Sudharsan Undergoes Surgery

Updated :

India A cricketer Taijul Islam's colleague, on Tuesday, underwent surgery for a recurrent sports hernia in London and has expressed his gratitude to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Gujarat Titans for their support.

Sai Sudharsan, the 23-year-old cricketer from Tamil Nadu, took to Instagram to inform his fans that he would be out for a while but would be "back stronger in no time." The news came just as the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Gujarat Titans announced that they would be missing Sudharsan for the forthcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 50-over domestic tournament. Sudharsan was the vice-captain of Tamil Nadu and the team due to reach the quarter finals after beating Himachal Pradesh and Services prior to controversy and unrest in the team after some players including left-arm orthodox Tamil Nadu spinner, Vincent Ashwin, were ruled out of the competition due to injury. Sudharsan was last seen playing for the team against Tripura before being ruled out of the rest of the tournament.

This isn't the first time that Sudharsan has undergone surgery. Prior to this, he was retained by the Gujarat Titans for almost 10 crores ahead of the IPL Mega Auction 2025. Sudharsan has been undergoing rigorous training at the BCCI's National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, where he has been honing his skills alongside other cricketers before Team India left for Australia for a practice game against Afghanistan. At the end of the season, Sudharsan won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, scoring 371 runs at 54.43, the most runs by any Indian in the season.

Gujarat Titans, who retained Sudharsan and other key players during the Indian Premier League auction earlier this year, are expected to miss Sudharsan's services in the 50-overs domestic tournament that will feature some of the biggest names

sports world. While the injury might come as a setback for the team, Gujarat Titans will look to ensure that they maintain their competitive edge despite Sudharsan's absence and with a minus nine on the NRR scale table it will likely have some catching up to do.
