Pakistan Sees Widespread Snowfall, Murree & Galyat on High Alert

Updated :

Pakistan's picturesque hills are witnessing a magical transformation as the winter chill sets in, bringing with it a blanket of snow that has left onlookers enchanted. The Director-General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Irfan Ali Kathia, issued an alert for the Murree region on January 6 after the first snowfall of the season, and it's not just Murree that has received the snow; Galyat, a popular tourist destination, has also been blanketed in white.

The Dirctor-General of PDMA, Irfan Ali Kathia, has been spearheading the relief efforts, instructing the Murree administration to be prepared for any eventuality and to keep the traffic flowing smoothly. To that end, thirteen rescue centers have been set up to facilitate tourists and locals alike. These centers are not only equipped to handle medical emergencies but also provide essential information and assistance to those who require it. The administration has also deployed snow removal machinery to keep the roads clear and navigable.

Meanwhile, Galyat's picturesque landscapes have been transformed into a winter wonderland, attracting tourists from far and wide. The snowfall has not only enhanced the region's natural beauty but has also put authorities on high alert. Rescue teams have been stationed in the area to respond swiftly in case of an emergency. Authorities have advised visitors to exercise caution while traveling, ensure that their vehicles are equipped with snow chains, and steer clear of roads that are slippery due to the snow

As the snowfall continues, it's clear that preparations are underway to minimize disruptions to visitors. Efforts are in place to keep the roads open, which should make it easier for people to move around and take in the breathtaking scenery. Only time will tell, however, whether these measures will be enough to mitigate the effects of the snow.
