Ali Zafar has been selected to perform the official anthem for the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League, sparking controversy and criticism from Multan Sultans' owner Ali Tareen, who believes it's time for fresh talent.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has announced that Ali Zafar will perform the official anthem for the 10th edition, marking his fifth time doing so. Zafar has a long-standing association with the league and has created some of its most recognizable songs, including the 2017 anthem, Ab Khel Jamay Ga, which remains one of the most celebrated cricket anthems in Pakistan.

However, the decision has sparked criticism, particularly from Multan Sultans' owner Ali Tareen, who questioned the reliance on the same artist, citing the presence of many talented artists in Pakistan. Tareen's sentiments were echoed by many social media users, who expressed disappointment over the repeated selection of the same artist.

Despite the backlash, some defended Zafar's selection, citing his energetic performances and suggesting that other artists should also be given a chance. The PSL X tournament is set to begin on April 11, but a release date for Zafar's anthem has not been announced. A teaser poster for the anthem, featuring Ali Zafar in a masked look, has been unveiled by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The controversy surrounding the PSL anthem selection highlights the debate between giving opportunities to established artists and promoting fresh talent. As the tournament approaches, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the anthem and the start of the matches, which will feature defending champions Islamabad United facing Lahore Qalandars on April 11.
