Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is reviving their retro strengths, particularly at home, to achieve success in the new IPL cycle, with a focus on their home record and a revamped spin department.

The team has a history of consistency and continuity, with nine players from the previous seasons returning to the team. However, they have struggled in the last two years, failing to make the playoffs twice, including a championship sandwiched in between. To address this, the team has signed two spinners, Ravichandran Ashwin and Noor Ahmad, to revitalize their spin department, which has seen a decline in home advantage at Chepauk due to standardized conditions.

CSK's campaign will be built on their home record, and they will look to start strong with four of their first six games at home, including the first two against MI and RCB. The team will face a challenging run-in, with three of their final four league fixtures on the road, including trips to Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. Notably, Sam Curran, a player with a point to prove, was signed at a relatively low price and could be used as a middle-order batter, where he has shown success.

With a likely XI that includes Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Rahul Tripathi, Vijay Shankar, Shivam Dube, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, R Ashwin, Noor Ahmed, Mateesha Pathirana, and Khaleel Ahmed, CSK is poised to make a strong start in the IPL 2025, beginning with their opening game against Mumbai Indians on March 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
