Pakistan Super League (PSL) CEO Salman Naseer has announced plans to expand the league from six to eight teams after the 2025 season, aiming to strengthen the league's commercial appeal and competitiveness.

The expansion is part of the league's ambitious vision to reach new cities and engage more fans across Pakistan. Peshawar will feature in an exhibition game for the first time, and the PSL trophy will go on a nationwide tour for the first time in the league's history. The league is also exploring a fan park concept to give audiences beyond major urban centers an immersive PSL experience.

The introduction of two new franchises is expected to increase the league's competitiveness, with PSL CEO Salman Naseer confirming that the league's signature competitiveness will be maintained despite the increase in teams. The expansion aligns with a crucial commercial phase for the PSL, as key media and sponsorship rights are set for re-evaluation and sale.

The league is also focusing on workload management for players, ensuring their well-being and performance in international cricket remains a priority. The new teams are expected to be added by the end of 2025, with the selection process and host cities yet to be disclosed.

The PSL 2026 season is set to start on April 11, and with the expansion, the league is poised to solidify its position as one of the premier T20 leagues globally. The expansion is seen as a key commercial juncture for the PSL, and fans can expect an exciting new season with more teams and more matches.
