A conference on the role of women in rural development was held in Wieliczka, organized by the Council for Women and Families from Rural Areas at the National Council of Agricultural Chambers, with the participation of I Deputy Voivode of Małopolska, Elżbieta Achinger.
The conference highlighted the importance of women in shaping rural communities, with Elżbieta Achinger emphasizing their irreplaceable role in Polish rural development. The event presented government initiatives supporting women's professional activities and participation in civic society, as well as various initiatives to help women develop their talents and engage in local projects.
Research shows that Polish female farmers are characterized by higher education, social and political engagement, and a sense of co-responsibility for the farm. Almost every third female farmer participated in protests, and 36% combine farm work with non-agricultural activities. 58% of female farmers report being treated equally by men in their work.
The conference demonstrated the significance of women's contributions to rural development, with 50% of female farmers bringing their own land or farm to their marriage, showing that their path to farming is not solely through marriage.
