IPL 2025 Mega Auction: CSK Bolsters Lineup, Vaibhav Suryavanshi Makes History with Rajasthan Royals Buy

Updated :

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction has come to an end, with several teams bolstering their lineups with big-ticket buys. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have made some significant additions to their squad, while 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become the youngest player to be bought at the auction.

CSK, led by MS Dhoni, have retained core players Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja, while also splurging Rs 65 crore on additions like Devon Conway, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Noor Ahmed. Conway's £6.25 crore deal is the second-highest buy of the season, while Ashwin and Ahmed were secured for £9.75 crore and £10 crore, respectively. The team's aggressive strategy has kept them in the hunt for the coveted title, despite their aging ranks.

Meanwhile, the spotlight has fallen on young Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who created history by becoming the youngest player to be bought at the IPL auction. The 13-year-old from Bihar impressed scouts with his impressive performances in domestic cricket, including his Ranji Trophy debut at the age of 12 years and 284 days and a century in the Youth Test series against Australia at 13 years and 188 days. While controversy has surrounded his age, with some allegations suggesting he may be 15 instead of 13, his father has denied the claims and offered to undergo another age verification test.

As the IPL 2025 season approaches, fans eagerly await the blend of experience and youthful energy in the teams. Will Vaibhav Suryavanshi's precocious talent translate to the bigger stage, or will MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings resurgence continue their upward trajectory? Only time will tell, but for now, the league is set for an exciting season with fresh talent and familiar faces competing for the coveted title.
