Virat Kohli's unbeaten 100 led India to a six-wicket win over Pakistan in the Champions Trophy, pushing the title holders to the brink of elimination, with Kohli becoming the third-fastest to reach 14,000 ODI runs.

Kohli's impressive performance saw him pass Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara to achieve this feat. He put on 69 runs with Shubman Gill, who made 46, and 114 runs with Shreyas Iyer, who made 56. Kohli was unbeaten on 100 off 111 balls, his 51st ODI ton, and 82nd across all formats. India bowled out Pakistan for 241 in 49.4 overs, with Kuldeep Yadav taking 3-40.

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has praised Virat Kohli as the best 50-overs player he has ever seen. Ponting believes Kohli will strive to surpass Sachin Tendulkar's record, and with his recent unbeaten 100, Kohli is now 149 runs away from second-placed Kumar Sangakkara. Ponting thinks Kohli will give himself the best chance to be remembered as the all-time leading run-scorer in ODIs.

This loss ended Pakistan's chances of making it to the semi-finals, as India and New Zealand had already secured their spots.

The loss against India sealed Pakistan's fate, and they were eliminated from the tournament 24 hours later. Kohli's performance has been a highlight of the tournament, and his ability to perform in big games has been praised by experts and fans alike.
