Pro Kabaddi League Loses Billy Gowers to NFL Pursuit
Gowers' decision to pursue an NFL career over the Pro Kabaddi League reflects his desire to compete at the highest level and test his skills in a new and challenging environment, with the goal of becoming a successful NFL punter and inspiring other Australian athletes to follow in his footsteps.

Former Western Bulldogs and Carlton forward Billy Gowers has turned down opportunities to play in the Pro Kabaddi League in India, opting instead to pursue a career as a punter in the National Football League (NFL) in the US. Gowers' decision comes after he impressed in a match against PKL stars, sparking interest from several franchises in the league.
Gowers has been training with ProKick Australia, an academy run by ex-NFL player Nathan Chapman, for four months to develop his punting skills. He has worked closely with experienced punters, including University of Tennessee punter Jackson Ross and former Philadelphia Eagles punter Arryn Siposs. The former AFL player is determined to become the next Australian to make the leap to the NFL, following in the footsteps of players like Jordan Mailata, who has played in the Super Bowl.
Gowers' background in Australian Rules football has provided a strong foundation for his punting career. He has played 33 games for the Western Bulldogs and won the Jim Frosty Miller medal for kicking the most goals in the VFL last season. His experience playing for the Aussie Raiders against PKL stars also helped him gain recognition and attract interest from NFL scouts.
As Gowers embarks on his NFL journey, he will face stiff competition, but his unique blend of Australian Rules football skills and punting ability may give him an edge. With his sights set on joining the NFL, Gowers is ready to take on the challenge and make his mark in the American football league.
