Abbas Araghchi Warns of All-Out War

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warns of an all-out war if the US or Israel attacks Iran's nuclear sites, emphasizing the need for trust-building measures and limited nuclear negotiations to prevent a historical mistake with devastating regional consequences.

Updated :

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a stark warning to the US and Israel, stating that any attack on the country's nuclear facilities would trigger a devastating conflict in the region, describing it as a "very bad disaster" and one of the "biggest historical mistakes" for the US.

Araghchi emphasized that Iran would respond "immediately and decisively" to any such attack, underscoring the country's commitment to defending its sovereignty and nuclear program. The warning comes amidst rising tensions between Iran, the US, and Israel, with concerns growing that a military strike on Iranian nuclear sites may be imminent. Araghchi also used the opportunity to express Iran's support for Hamas in the Gaza conflict, describing the recent outcome as a victory for the group.

In addition to addressing the nuclear issue, Araghchi discussed regional stability, reiterating Iran's commitment to a unified government in Syria where all segments of society can participate. He expressed concerns about the impact of instability in Syria on the broader region and emphasized the need for practical steps to restore confidence and rebuild trust with the US, possibly through the release of frozen funds. Araghchi also highlighted the need for limited negotiations focused on the nuclear issue, given the US's withdrawal from the 2015 deal.

Araghchi's comments on the US-Iran relationship were marked by a sense of hostility and mistrust, shaped by a history of strained interactions. The minister noted that the re-election of US President Donald Trump would not necessarily improve relations, emphasizing the need for tangible actions to address the deep-seated mistrust between the two nations. Furthermore, Araghchi's suggestion that Israelis be relocated to Greenland in response to Trump's proposal to "clean out" Palestinians from Gaza reflects the deep divisions and complexities of the regional conflicts.

As tensions continue to escalate, the international community watches with bated breath, aware that any miscalculation could lead to a catastrophic conflict. The urgency of Araghchi's warnings underscores the critical need for diplomacy and a concerted effort to de-escalate tensions, with the aim of preventing a war that could have far-reaching and devastating consequences for the region and beyond.
