Pakistan Squad for Champions Trophy 2025 Announced

Updated :

Pakistan has unveiled its 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025, featuring a mix of experienced players and rising stars, with Mohammad Rizwan set to lead the team in the absence of injured Babar Azam.

The squad includes four changes from the team that played against South Africa last year, with veteran opener Fakhar Zaman making a comeback after his impressive performance in the 2017 Champions Trophy final. Zaman is likely to share the opening role with either Saud Shakeel or another top-order batsman. The team also features all-rounder Salman Ali Agha as Rizwan's deputy and includes key players such as Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Shah Afridi, who will lead the pace attack.

Pakistan's road to the Champions Trophy 2025 begins with a tri-nation series against New Zealand and South Africa, starting from February 8. The team will then face New Zealand, India, and Bangladesh in the group stages of the tournament, with their opening match against New Zealand in Karachi on February 19. The Champions Trophy 2025 will feature 15 matches across three venues in Pakistan and Dubai.

The squad's selection was announced by the National Selection Committee, with Asad Shafiq highlighting the inclusion of rising stars such as Khushdil Shah, Usman Khan, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Hasnain, and Naseem Shah. The team's composition suggests a balance of experience and youth, with a focus on performing well in the tournament.

With the squad announcement, Pakistan's preparations for the Champions Trophy 2025 are now in full swing. The team will look to make a strong impression in the tournament, which promises to be an exciting competition featuring some of the best teams in international cricket.
