Pakistan Wins Historic Multan Test
In a thrilling display of cricket, Pakistan's Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan led a recovery with unbeaten half-centuries, taking their side to 143-4 at the close of the first day in the first Test against the West Indies at Multan, setting the stage for a historic win.
The match, which ended in just 1064 balls, has broken multiple records, including the shortest Test match to produce a result in Pakistan's history. The previous record, also between Pakistan and West Indies, was played in Faisalabad in 1990 and lasted 1080 balls. The West Indies' batting effort was notable, with Jomel Warrican scoring 31* at number 10, while Kyle Mayers also batted at 32 not out.
The West Indies bowlers restricted Pakistan to 294 runs, bowled out in 75.4 overs, with Jomel Warrican claiming figures of seven for 32, becoming the best visitor spinner in men's Tests in Pakistan. The match saw 19 wickets fall on the second day, the most in a single day's play in a Test match in Pakistan. Pakistan's cricket team ultimately won the match by 127 runs, breaking a 24-year-old record and achieving the shortest international Test match in Pakistan's history in terms of balls bowled.
The win marked a significant achievement for Pakistan, with Sajid Khan becoming the third-fastest Pakistani bowler to take 50 Test wickets, reaching the milestone in just 11 matches. Mohammad Rizwan also completed 100 dismissals in the longest format of the game, highlighting the team's impressive performance.
