Najmul Shanto Leads Bangladesh's 184-6, Despite Strong Afghan Bowling

Updated :

Bangladesh's batting lineup showed resilience in the 2nd ODI against Afghanistan, reaching 184-6 in 41 overs. Najmul Hossain Shanto stole the show with his top-scoring 77 runs, before being dismissed by Nangeyalia Kharote.

The star performer for Bangladesh first reached his ninth ODI half-century in the 30th over, perched at 142-2 alongside Mehedi Hasan Miraz, who remained unbeaten on 21 runs. Shanto's innings of 75 balls, consisting of four boundaries and a six, showcased his dominance in the match. Meanwhile, Soumya Sarker departed after a 35-ball 35, while Tanzid Tamim lost his wicket after a 17-ball 22.

Bangladesh opted to bat first, making a bold move with their lineup. Newcomer Jaker Ali Anik made his debut as wicketkeeper, while Nasum Ahmed took the place of Rishad Hossain. Despite the unorthodox changes, the team has managed to put up a competitive score of 184-6, which will hopefully lead to a strong performance by the Afghan bowlers in the later stages of the match.

Afghanistan will need a dominant innings in response to Bangladesh's 184, after being handed a stern test by the robust bowling performances of Nangeyalia Kharote and Fazalhaq Farooqi, who have already taken 3 and 2 wickets, respectively. The match is expected to be a closely contested affair.
