Amazon Inks Deal with Kevin Harlan for NBA Coverage

Updated :

Veteran play-by-play announcer Kevin Harlan is set to join Amazon's NBA coverage as the streaming service prepares to debut its NBA coverage next season, with Harlan expected to take on the role of No. 2 play-by-play announcer alongside Ian Eagle.

Harlan, 64, brings extensive experience to the role, having spent decades calling NBA games for TNT, as well as working on NFL and NCAA tournament coverage for CBS and Westwood One. Despite his new role with Amazon, Harlan is expected to continue working with CBS on NCAA men's basketball games and as the radio voice of Monday Night Football and the Super Bowl for Westwood One. The deal, which has not yet been finalized, marks a significant addition to Amazon's sports coverage, which is set to launch next season.

Amazon has already secured a deal with Ian Eagle to call top NBA games, and the streamer is also in the process of searching for analysts to complement its play-by-play announcers. Dwyane Wade, Stan Van Gundy, and Richard Jefferson are among those being considered for hybrid roles, although no official announcements have been made. Taylor Rooks will host the studio show for Amazon's NBA coverage, which promises to bring a fresh perspective to the world of sports broadcasting.

As Amazon continues to build its sports coverage team, the addition of Kevin Harlan is seen as a significant coup, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the streaming service. With the NBA season set to debut on Prime Video next season, fans can expect high-quality coverage and analysis from Harlan and the rest of the Amazon team.
