Worcestershire batter Kashif Ali is set to return to first-class action next week, competing in the prestigious President's Trophy in Pakistan for Ghani Glass, after a remarkable 2024 campaign in the County Championship.

Kashif Ali had a standout season with Worcestershire, finishing as the team's leading scorer with nearly 800 runs at an impressive average of 42.61, including two hundreds and five fifties. His performance played a crucial role in the team's successful bid to secure a spot in Division One. Now, he will play eight group games in an eight-week period until the end of February, aiming to gain valuable experience, particularly in improving his leg spin bowling skills.

Ghani Glass, Kashif's team in the President's Trophy, will launch their group programme on January 14 against Eshaal. The top two teams from the group will advance to the final in April. Kashif's experience in the tournament will not only benefit him but also Worcestershire, as he and teammate Ethan Brookes prepare for their overseas cricket commitments ahead of the 2025 season. Brookes will play for Adelaide University in Australia, looking to build on his impressive form after being the top scorer in Worcestershire's T20 Blast campaign.

The return of Kashif Ali to first-class action and his participation in the President's Trophy marks an exciting period for cricket fans, as they look forward to seeing the progress of talented players like Kashif and Ethan Brookes on the international stage. Their experiences in overseas competitions will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and success of Worcestershire in the upcoming season.
