Ali Tareen Reveals Ihsanullah's Career Setback

Updated :

Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen has expressed deep concern over the botched surgery of Pakistani pace bowler Ihsanullah, stating that he may never regain his previous bowling form due to a previous elbow surgery. This revelation has significant implications for Ihsanullah's career, as his speed has noticeably reduced since the injury.

Ihsanullah, who has represented Pakistan in one ODI and four T20Is, underwent surgery in 2023 after an elbow injury. However, his recovery has been marred by complications, including scarring that will prevent his arm from being perfectly straight. According to a top surgeon, this will make it impossible for him to bowl at his previous speed of 150 kph. Tareen has cited the example of Ihsanullah's decreased pace, which has dropped from consistently 155 km/h to 130-135 km/h, as evidence of the drastic impact of the injury on his career.

The Multan Sultans owner has also taken a swipe at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Tareen believes that the board will struggle to prevent players from switching to the Indian Premier League (IPL) even if they are signed for the PSL. He highlighted the board's inability to enforce its rules, citing an instance where a player left the PSL midway through the season to attend a wedding. The PSL has been rescheduled to April-May to avoid clashes with the IPL, but concerns remain that this could backfire and lead to PSL franchises losing players to the IPL.

The future of Ihsanullah's career remains uncertain, with Tareen blaming negligence for the drastic impact on his career. The PCB's handling of the situation has been called into question, and it remains to be seen how they will respond to the concerns raised by Tareen. As the PSL approaches, all eyes will be on the board to see how they will navigate the challenges posed by the IPL and ensure the success of their own tournament.

Ihsanullah's career is in jeopardy due to a botched elbow surgery, with his pace significantly decreased, and the PCB's handling of the situation has been questioned by Ali Tareen, who also expressed concerns about the board's ability to prevent players from switching to the IPL.
