Increase in Stipends for Benazir Kafalat Beneficiaries

Updated :

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has implemented a significant increase in quarterly stipends for its Kafaalat beneficiaries, with the amount now standing at Rs13,500. This significant increment marks a 28.57% rise from the previous stipend of Rs10,500. The decision aims to provide financial relief to deserving women in Pakistan, particularly in these challenging economic times.

Senator Rubina Khalid, chairperson of BISP, emphasized the importance of economic empowerment of the poor, highlighting the need for further initiatives to equip them with the skills required for local and international markets. In a meeting with the Vice President of the Pakistan Association of Australia, Ali Murtaza, she underscored the potential for collaboration between BISP and skill training institutions to provide high-quality development training to deserving individuals, thus enabling them to achieve financial independence.

Furthermore, Khalid stressed the significance of targeted skill enhancement programs designed to meet the demands of the labor market and improve the employability of BISP beneficiaries. This strategic move endeavors to address unemployment issues while promoting self-sufficiency among underprivileged individuals. The 2025 designation as the "Year of the Benazir Hunarmand Programme" by Senator Khalid emblematically signifies the commitment to skill-based empowerment, preparing Pakistan's workforce for the needs of a rapidly changing job market.

The BISP's enhanced stipends, coupled with the BISP's emphasis on skill training and placement, showcases its commitment to addressing poverty and promoting economic independence in Pakistan's underprivileged communities.
