2019 Bajaur Festival
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advisor Zahid Chanzeb has announced that preparations are underway for the upcoming two-day Bajaur Festival, set to be held at Bajaur Sports Complex Khar starting December 28. The event will be jointly organized by the KP Culture and Tourism Authority, District Administration, and Bajaur Scouts, with the aim of promoting sports, tourism, and youth engagement in the region.
Building on the success of previous years, this year's festival promises to be an exciting event, featuring a range of activities, including sports competitions, cultural events, music, and food stalls. The event is expected to cater to a diverse audience, providing an opportunity for locals to showcase their talents and skills, while also promoting a positive image of Bajaur to the world. The KP Culture and Tourism Authority, which has been instrumental in organizing similar events in the merged districts, is keen to ensure that the festival meets the expectations of the local people and stakeholders.
The festival will also feature a range of competitions, including a 7-km cycling race, kabaddi, and tug-of-war, which will showcase the athletic prowess of the local youth. Cultural events, such as poetry recitals, magic shows, and Attan dance performances will also be an integral part of the festival, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the region. With a variety of food stalls serving local cuisine, the festival is also expected to be a culinary delight, offering a taste of the local culture.
The Bajaur Festival aims to promote tourism in the region and encourage youth participation in cultural and sports activities. With the KP-CTA already working on a feasibility study for tourist sites in Bajaur, and planning to launch rest areas, camping pods, and other tourism projects, the festival is expected to have a long-term impact on the local economy and community. As Zahid Chanzeb highlighted, more such events will be held in other merged districts to promote tourism, ensuring that the region's rich culture and natural beauty are showcased to the world.
