New Year's Eve Celebrations in Karachi to Feature Record-Breaking Fireworks Display

Updated :

Karachi, Pakistan - As the city prepares to ring in the new year, the Sindh Governor's House has announced a grand fireworks display on December 31, promising to break an international record. The grand event, organized to mark the beginning of a new year, will feature a 40-minute fireworks show at the Governor House, with five gates open to the public.

The Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, has extended his best wishes for the incoming year, praying for peace, stability, economic growth, and welfare for the people of Pakistan. As part of the preparations, the Karachi city administration has imposed Section 144 in the metropolis, banning the carrying, displaying, and brandishing of weapons, aerial firing, and the use of firecrackers. The measure aims to ensure a safe and peaceful New Year's Eve celebration.

The Karachi Traffic Police have issued a detailed traffic plan to manage the flow of traffic on New Year's Eve. The plan includes restrictions on major roads, closure of parking on certain arteries, and the diversion of traffic from areas such as Korangi, Expressway, North Nazimabad, and Gulberg. The plan also designates alternative routes for traffic entering Karachi from various directions, including Sharea Faisal, Sindh Club Chowk, Teen Talwar, and McDonald's Sea View Road.

In a move to prevent aerial firing, the Karachi Additional Inspector General of Police has warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible. The police will conduct patrols, pickets, and snap checks on roads, streets, and public places, and a case of attempted murder will be registered against violators. License holders in Karachi's West Zone are being asked to surrender their arms to prevent celebratory firing.

The security will be intensified across the metropolis on New Year's Eve, with nearly 5,300 police personnel deployed to maintain law and order. The police have also announced that cases will be registered against those who engage in aerial firing, hooliganism, harassment, and one-wheeling. Effective traffic management plans are also in place to facilitate citizens and prevent any inconvenience.

As the city of Karachi gears up to celebrate the start of a new year, authorities are taking all necessary measures to ensure a joyful and incident-free celebration. The promise of a record-breaking fireworks display at the Governor's House, coupled with a comprehensive traffic plan and security arrangements, aims to make the night a memorable one for the people of Karachi.
