Pass Rate Declines as Intermediate Examination Results Announced in Pakistan
The Intermediate examination results for 2024 have been announced in major cities across Pakistan, showing a concerning decline in the overall pass percentage. The Lahore Board, which is one of the largest boards in the country, declared the results for the second annual intermediate examination, registering a mere 36% pass ratio. Around 18,136 candidates managed to pass out of 49,465 who appeared for the exams, with the remaining 31,300 candidates failing.
Similar trends were observed in other cities as well. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Faisalabad, declared the results of Inter Annual Examination Part-II 2024. Out of 21,937 candidates who appeared for the exams, only 8,412 were able to pass, resulting in a pass percentage of 38.35%. The BISE Faisalabad web portal, www.bisefsd.edu.pk, has been updated with the results, allowing candidates to check their performance instantly. Furthermore, candidates dissatisfied with their results have until January 11, 2025, to apply for rechecking of papers.
The Intermediate Second Annual Examinations 2024 results in another major region showed a relatively better trend, albeit not very impressive. The overall pass percentage stood at 59.11%, with 6,976 students managing to clear the exams out of 11,801 who appeared for the exams. These results highlight a concerning trend in the country's educational system, particularly in relation to intermediate level education, necessitating immediate attention and reforms.
The decreasing pass rates call for a review of the education standards, teaching methodologies, and the syllabus. The government and the relevant education departments need to take immediate action to address the issue at hand and ensure that students receive the quality education they deserve. Only through concerted efforts can the educational landscape of Pakistan be transformed.
