Cabinet Division Releases Public Holiday Calendar for 2025
Pakistani government bodies will enjoy a common set of public holidays throughout 2025, alongside optional celebrations marking significant events for minority communities, as the Cabinet Division recently announced the public holiday calendar. A six-day Eid-ul-Fitr, extended slightly from the typical four days in 2024, will take place in March, while Eid-ul-Azha in June will also be a three-day affair. Christians can expect only two holidays on Christmas Day and the following day, a specific concession for the minority group.
In addition to these extended periods of celebration, the general public will observe single-day commemorations for Labour Day on May 1 and Kashmir Day on February 5. Interestingly, the celebrations will culminate in December with the birth of the «Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah», a single-day observation marking the anniversary of his birth. But apart from these mentions, information on Eid dates, substantial financial allocations or other pertinent points on assumed celebrations were not a part of this announcement.
The Cabinet Division also recently expressed its intentions to verify the number of government employees granted any optional holidays in 2025. Although government servants of non-Muslim religions will be allowed a total of three optional days off, Muslim employees will only have one optional holiday as part of the annual requirements. Prior permission is necessary for the latter, and everyone should get prior approval from their superiors before heading off on these extra days.
Pakistan's recurring curricula of national days has been brought into effect. Public holiday guidelines were circulated by the Cabinet Division of the Pakistani administration. Various events for minorities have been outlined to promote unity among different faiths.
