Reliance Foundation Launches Health Seva Plan to Improve Child Health

Updated :

On the occasion of Children's Day, the Reliance Foundation, led by Nita Ambani, has announced a groundbreaking initiative to improve child health in India. The New Health Seva Plan aims to provide crucial health services to marginalized communities, addressing pressing issues such as congenital heart disease and cancer. This endeavour aligns with the Foundation's mission to ensure affordable, world-class healthcare for all.

The New Health Seva Plan encompasses multiple initiatives, focusing on the most vulnerable segments of society. A key highlight is the provision of free congenital heart disease screenings and treatment to 50,000 children, acknowledging the prevalence of this condition in India. It is estimated that congenital heart disease affects one in every 100 infants in the country, making early detection and treatment crucial. Furthermore, the plan includes breast and cervical cancer screenings for 50,000 women, as well as cervical cancer vaccinations for 10,000 adolescent girls. These measures are crucial in addressing the alarming rates of breast cancer and cervical cancer among Indian women, with cancer accounting for over 25% of all cancers among females.

The Reliance Foundation's commitment to healthcare is evident in its decade-long goal of providing affordable, world-class care to everyone. The Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital has already provided services to 2.75 million Indians, including over 150,000 children, and has successfully performed over 500 organ transplants. This new initiative is a testament to the Foundation's dedication to addressing the health disparities faced by marginalized communities. By providing access to quality healthcare, the New Health Seva Plan aims to improve the overall well-being of children and families, empowering them to lead healthier, happier lives.

The initiative was announced by Nita Ambani, the founder and chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, on the occasion of Children's Day. The celebration of Children's Day offers an opportunity to reflect on the potential of children, inspiring them to dream big and work hard towards overcoming life's challenges. Through the New Health Seva Plan, the Reliance Foundation is supporting children and families in need, providing a brighter future for them. The curated list of films, including "The Pursuit of Happyness" and "Taare Zameen Par", also promotes valuable life lessons and encourages children to face life challenges with resilience and hope.
