Zomato Introduces 'Food Rescue' Initiative to Reduce Food Waste
In a bid to reduce food wastage, Zomato has launched a new feature called 'Food Rescue', allowing customers to purchase cancelled orders at a discounted price within a 3km radius. This innovation aims to address the issue of over 4 lakh cancelled orders every month, resulting in significant food waste.
The 'Food Rescue' feature works by notifying nearby customers about available cancelled orders, enabling them to buy and receive them within minutes. The rescued food items will be available in their original packaging, and customers will receive them at a discounted price. Notably, Zomato will not retain any profits from the rescued orders, instead, it will compensate its delivery partners for the entire trip and split the proceeds with the original customers and restaurant partners.
Zomato has taken a proactive approach to tackle food waste, building upon previous initiatives like Brand Packs and priority deliveries. As the company continues to innovate, it remains committed to reducing food waste in the food ordering space. With 'Food Rescue', Zomato is not only reducing waste but also providing customers with a unique opportunity to enjoy freshly prepared food at a discounted price.
The introduction of 'Food Rescue' is also a strategic move by Zomato to maintain its dominance in the competitive food ordering market. As government-backed initiatives offering food delivery at cheaper prices gain traction, Zomato's focus on innovation and customer experience remains a key differentiator.
With 'Food Rescue', Zomato has taken a significant step towards reducing food waste and enhancing the overall customer experience. As the company continues to evolve and innovate, it remains committed to making a meaningful impact in the food ordering space.
