PM Orders Uninterrupted Gas Supply to Domestic Consumers

Updated :

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to ensure that domestic consumers receive an uninterrupted gas supply during the winter season, prioritizing their needs as per government commitments. This measure aims to alleviate concerns about reduced gas availability, which has been a persistent issue for households.

The directive was made during a meeting in Islamabad where the Prime Minister was briefed on the overall gas supply situation in the country. According to recent reports, the country now enjoys a surplus of Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG), allowing for improved gas load management compared to last year's scenario. As a result, domestic consumers are now receiving a continuous gas supply from 5 am to 10 pm each day.

Besides addressing domestic gas needs, the government has also ensured that the power sector's gas demands are being met as per its requirements. This is being monitored through online dashboards, with satisfactory results – such as 93 percent of consumer complaints being resolved, and 79 percent being attended to immediately.

The operations of all gas fields across the country are operational, indicating a robust supply chain management system in place. This development aims to eliminate issues such as allegations of favoritism and pockets of corruption that have persistently affected the efficiency of the sector.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's directive marks a significant step towards fulfilling his government's commitment to providing essential services to the nation – particularly domestic consumers who have long faced difficulties due to gas unavailability. By prioritizing uninterrupted gas supply during the winter season, the government has demonstrated its resolve to address critical concerns and alleviate hardships experienced by families nationwide.
